    Hi All

Wondering if any of you used DesignSpark or any other PCB layout program and what your thoughts were?

I don’t know of that one but I have used Eagle and Altium a fair bit. Altium has an expensive license but Eagle allow you to make small 2 layer boards on a free license. Altium do have a new package called circuit maker that is free provided the files are released as open source.

KiKad is another alternative. Completely free but I have heard it has a few idiosyncrasies that make it a little challenging at times.

Did you have a design in mind?

Most probably a bit late, but the SW Makers in Bunbury are running a multi-part KiCAD tutorial:  http://blog.strobotics.com.au/2016/08/05/kicad-tutorial-sessions-hosted-by-yours-truly/#more-1021   The first one was last month, with the second part being held in Bunbury on the 10th Sept.  No charge and all are welcome.

    Eagle is good,

    But, have you tried EasyEDA?

I have found this online program quite easy to use – especially for me – as I am quite new to this stuff.

And apparently EasyEDA can also manufacture your PCB.

You can export your files, so you don’t have to use EasyEDA to manufacture your boards.

I have not tried their manufacture process yet, but I plan to soon.

    Regards

    Scott
