Outlier Cellars is a small winery/cidery in Southwest Colorado. Our production facility and tasting room/bar are located the the small town of Mancos. We are nestled perfectly between the Rocky Mountains and the great sandstone canyon desert. We are 30 minutes from Durango and 15 minutes from Cortez. This area had a rich apple growing economy at various times over the last century and evidence of that can be seen in the old heirloom apple orchards at almost every historic ranch in the county. The bulk of our cider is made from these apples.
Our main product at this point is a craft cider. Though cider is our main focus at the moment, we are interested in developing other products as well; wine, sake, mead, and sparkling apple juice.
This last fall we custom crushed our cider at a local winery. We are expecting to open our new facility in February 2018. Our cider/wine maker moved away from the area this last summer and we need a replacement. We are looking for someone who is creative and passionate about fermentation. Ideally we want a cider/wine maker to take over production and steer our cellar program. This is a great opportunity for a person who has cellar experience but is looking for more creative control of product. We are the only cider producer in our area, and we are excited to have the opportunity to blaze our own trail in this emerging industry.
